There are many Latino civic, political and hometown associations; however, there is not a single organization that tries to bring greater communication and attention to the needs of the Latino community, as the NAACP and Urban League do for the African American community and the Asian family associations do for the Asian community. These associations embody a multitude of organizations, which represent a united community. For generations, these entities have expressed and shared their culture and history, fought for civil rights, and recognized the accomplishments of their leaders and members of their communities. The California Latino Center would provide the same physical and symbolic representation as these entities, to share the contributions, accomplishments and culture of the Latino community. We invite all organizations to become members of the California Latino Center to bring about synergies that will help create a unified focus. The California Latino Center will be a symbol of unity providing the resources and mediums to give the Latino community a voice.
